Summary of Student Evaluations:
Gifted and Talented Trip To ‘A Traditional Christmas At The Black Country Museum’ 18/12/09 The following was evident:
“It was a perfect start to the Christmas festival.”
Students said the best things about the trip included: going down the coal mine, meeting Santa Claus, riding on the fare ground, going in the old: school, houses and shops.
Students said they learnt how:
· Black Country people lived in those times and what sort of clothes they wore.
· How lonely coal miners must have felt down the mines, how dangerous being a coal miner was, how coal was mined and how it was transported.
· Fare grounds and rides have changed, but what fun it was to have a go on the antiquated rides.
· Schools and houses have changed.
Students thought the trip would help them with:
· History coursework.
· Creative writing and poetry.
· Provided inspiration for art work
Several of the students were inspired and interested in submitting writing, paintings or drawings to www.publishinghouse.co.uk where they would use what they had learnt on this historical visit.
Students felt it was good, very interesting, fun and a good day out with their friends, parents and staff. A high level of appreciation was evident in the evaluations and many students and parents thanked staff on the night. Several students said they would like to go again.
